Our TownLincoln NE 68502

Description

Four years ago, a sweet mama wrote us saying that her child couldn't participate in trick-or -treating but that they would like to do something festive for Halloween, like driving around and looking at spooky decorations. We put the word out and heard from so many Lincolnites about wonderfully decorated homes.

The homes are all over the city and our list goes from North to South Lincoln, pick your starting point and enjoy a night of scary sight seeing. It takes about 1.5-2 hours to do the entire list. Some houses are interactive and encourage you to walk through their yard. A couple of these houses will not be ready until a certain date so please note that. If that is the case we have detailed it out.

None of my pictures do justice to these decorations; make time to drive around with your family or friends. You won't be disappointed and if you see the homeowners, tell them thank you! They make our holidays just a little bit more fun.

You will know you are the right house and the sign is a way to thank the owners! Big thank you to Matt Kirkland at Realty Works Group for sponsoring this with us! To learn more about Matt and how he can help you with your realty needs check out his webpage.

2011 Ranger Cir (21st and Superior)-This house is deemed Smithville Haunt, what was once a simple decrepit cemetery is now a sight to haunt your nightmares. This is one of the scarier houses on our list. There are skeletons, ghouls, devils and toxic waste that has spread across the entire yard. I suggest going during the night for the full effect. My favorite part about this house? The owners' neighbors and friends sent emails explaining why this house should be added. That is a good friend! This house is interactive; you walk through a path.

9420 Holderege-A big shout out to Micah, the 15 year old responsible for the decorations at this house. His family and he make all the decorations themselves-last year they made a hearse! This is an interactive display that you walk through and it is only open October 29-31. Admission is a can of food to be donated. This is a scary haunted house recommended for 12+.

308 Lyncrest-Vicki, who has been on our list for the past three years has passed on her decorations to her son and they are carrying on the tradition of decorating.

824 South 51st Street-Located near 48th and Randolph, this house is best at night with the fog machine and lights going. Most of the decorations are hand-made from years and years of decorating. This house was nominated by Kacie, the homeowners daughter! She says that her dad is a huge Halloween fan and you can tell!.

31st and Woodsdale-Located in the Country Club, this house has many decorations on all sides. This house is great during the day and at night. The huge skeletons are my favorite and the giant pumpkins! You can spend a lot of time here just looking at each decoration. This house is also a great destination for Christmas decor too; add it to your list for December.

3700 Worthington-new this year is a Halloween masterpiece: a lifesize pirate ship! I am not kidding. You could set sale in this ship. It is great during the day or at night.

3421 Allendale Dr (near Pioneers Blvd)-This house wins most terrifying house. I was scared, my kids were scared, their friends were scared! The entire yard and driveway is decorated and it feels more like a haunted house than a yard. There are strobe lights, fog machines and if you are brave enough to go into the yard-things jumps out at you!  This is not a house for young ones but definitely for the older crowd who like the scary side of Halloween. This house is scary even during the day. Brad, the homeowner says, "We love doing our decorations every year and we try to change it up a little; we try to make it interactive for the kids."

17th & Pawnee-This house made me laugh with its Hansel and Gretel theme! I thought it was funny and my kids thought it was creepy.

Duxhal & 41st (near Old Cheney)-This house amazes me every year! It is interactive with a radio station telling you a story, tons of moving parts and new this year-a giant scarecrow. They have a video playing in the window and people can tune to 96.5 FM to listen in to the story. This house is amazing during the day and night! Thank you to Todd for creating this magic!

5810 South 88th (Old Cheney & 88th) The Nightmare Before Christmas house! Their yard is awesome and they have so many decorations themed around this movie. This house is fun during the day and at night but at night there is a bit more magic. Their decorations are joined by a radio station playing music from the movie.

Abigail Cir & Tobie Ln (near Old Cheney & 81 St)-A yard filled with wooden decorations, this house is fun and not at all scary. It is perfect for little kids to enjoy!

23rd and Grainger (near the Wal-Mart on S 27th)-A house and lawn decorated with spiders-one is terrifyingly huge, she must be a relative of Shelob from Lord of the Rings! My favorite part about this house? One of the owners is an exterminator. Great decorations and great sense of humor! This house is great at night and during the day.

2243 Brennan View Court (Yankee Hill and 27th)-This house has lots of halograms (bugs, dancing zombies, etc), strobes, fun lighting, and smoke! It is best viewed at night.
