The problem with putting a pressure pad on the inside by the front door is that she would most likely walk across it to go into the kitchen and I would get lots of false alarms. What I want is something that alerts when she has actively stepped out of the front door so that when the alarm goes off I KNOW it’s because she’s gone out.
I live literally next door and if the alarm went off I could easily be out of my house by the time she has walked down her driveway so I can intercept her.
I don’t think it is a medical issue. She does it early morning as she tends to get up between 5-6am and by 7 is bored and what’s to go and visit people but she gets confused and gets lost. The worst thing is she doesn’t remember to put her hearing aids in and wouldn’t hear a car as she tried to cross our residential street.
If we could find an appropriate door alarm for her weird front door it would probably be ok but she sometimes opens the door just to look out. It just seems easier to me to have something that doesn’t need fixing onto anything but would do the same job.
I’ll keep thinking about the best solution. Thanks for the reply.
